The ASA in conjunction with the Institute of Swimming (“IoS”), the British Swimming Coaches Association (“BSCA”) and Browne Jacobson LLP has produced employment contract documentation and guidance notes.
The ASA Legal Affairs Department would, in particular, draw to the attention of clubs the legal and taxation implications of the distinction between employed and self employed teachers and coaches.

David Parry is the second recently appointed Regional Development Officer to commence working for the North East Region. Like his colleague, Sarah Small, his role is to work with the ASA regional, divisional and central teams to implement the aims and objectives of the North East Regional business plan 2013-2017. They will be supporting the development of aquatics in the region within the areas of Club Development, Workforce Development, Talent and Participation. Initially it is likely that he will be working with the clubs in the south of the region to support them with their development plans and Swim21 accreditation.
The British Paralympic Association has announced the launch of BT's 25th Birthday Bursary Fund to celebrate its 25th Anniversary. When the British Paralympic Association was founded in 1989, BT was a partner from the start and has continued to support disability sport right through to today. BT has now teamed up with the Telegraph to create the Birthday Bursary fund which totals £25,000.
The ASA North East Region are looking to recruit two volunteers for the roles of Head Coach and Team Manager for the regions Disability Swimming Team. The region would encourage both individuals previously involved with the team and any new volunteers to register their interest
The Head Coach and Team Manager would be required to attend the EFDS National Short Course Championships, November 22nd-23rd in Manchester and to organise and deliver a training session prior to the competition (dates to be arranged).

Disability Sport Yorkshire (FDSO) Annual Sports Award Dinner - 12th September 2014
The Disability Sport Yorkshire Annual Awards Dinner will be held at The Pavillion Banqueting Suite, Elland Road, Leeds on Friday 12th September 2014.
The event will once again be a celebration of sporting endeavor and achievement.
Nominations are invited in all categories, ahead of the closing date of 15th August.
